Getting the most out of your DCCD - With Matt from MAP DCCD

If you have an STI with a 6-Speed transmission, or if you have swapped an STI 6-Speed transmission into another car, most likely your transmission has a DCCD, or Driver Controlled Center Differential.  The STI 6-Speed has a ton of performance potential, and a big part of that is the DCCD when it is working properly.

Subaru gave the STI a computer just to control the center differential, but if you are swapping that transmission into another car like a WRX or Impreza etc., then you aren't able to use the factory STI controller.

Not only that, but before the STI got a 6-speed transmission, some STI models had a 5-speed transmission that also had a DCCD, but the only control at that time was a simple thumb-wheel that let you select the lock.

Matt from MB Engineering (which is the parent company of MAP DCCD) has an STI Type-R which had the 5-speed with DCCD, and he knew how much performance he was missing by not having the advantage of a computer that was dynamically adjusting the center differential, and he happened to have the background to explore building something that would solve that problem.

This ended up being the MAP DCCD controller.

In this episode we talk to Matt about that process, how he got into Subaru's in the first place, and how the MAP DCCD controller works.
