2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb!

It is hard to believe but the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is happening this Sunday.

Our road to get our 2014 WRX ready for the race this year has not been as smooth at it has been for the last few years. Right as we were going to head up to Pikes Peak for some early testing at the beginning of the month, we discovered bearing material in the oil during a routine change. Because the conditions of this race are so unique, it is really critical to get in at least some testing before race week, so we only had 1 week to get the car working so that we could test the following weekend.

We putted and replaced the engine, and then discovered that the turbo had been damaged as well. Both Scotty and Viet put in countless hours that week to get the car back into running order, and at the end of it all we took the car to Harvey at The Boostcreep for a quick touch up on our tune because we had to go with a different turbo since we were on short notice.

Everything was coming together, and the car was on Pikes Peak the next day (Saturday) for some much need shake-down and testing. The day was shaping up to be a good one, and then on the last testing session, the transmission failed.

The car came back into the shop to have the transmission pulled, and sent off for some much needed work from Zach at ZF Design. Thanks to his having most all of the parts that we needed on hand, the transmission was back in the car the following Thursday, just in-time for Race week.

So far, we made it through Tech inspection, and shook the car down that afternoon, and now it is all about qualifying. Now that we have got all of our bad luck out of the way, we should have a smooth practice week and hopefully a good qualifying. Weather may well be a factor this year (more this year than most with all of the snow that we are getting), so the better we can do for qualifying, the better a race we should have.

If you can make it out for Fan Fest on Friday, definitely stop by and say hello to the team. And the same goes if you are in the pit area on Sunday for the race.

And if you can't make it up to Pikes Peak for the race, you can follow live results online, listen to the live radio broadcast on KRDO, or check out the Official Pikes Peak Hill Climb YouTube channel, so you won't have to miss any of the action.

Thanks again for all of your support, and Stay Tuned to our Instagram and Facebook page for all the latest updates throughout the week!
