Rally Colorado is quickly getting the reputation for being a fun but challenging rally, with a couple of stages that can really take a toll on the cars. The first stage is referred to as "Carnage Canyon," for instance. Rally Colorado 2019 lived up to all of those expectations, and even managed to throw some new challenges at the competitors, like a flash flood.
The Flatirons Tuning Rally Car took 1st in Class and 2nd Overall at the 2019 Rally Colorado event.
For the Flatirons Tuning Rally team, this was a very challenging race, but also a very rewarding one. We had a few hiccups getting ready for the rally, but once the green flag dropped on the first day, the car and team were doing well, and setting some quick stage times throughout the day. We had some minor (in rally terms) suspension damage through the first day, but we kept the car on the road, and we found that we were in the top 5 cars by the end of Day 1.
Grid Life added a new event to their calendar for 2019, and it just happened to be right here in Colorado. The Grid Life Alpine Horizon event was held at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colorado, and we decided to see what Grid Life was all about.
Flatirons Tuning, DSX Motorsports, and Red Queen Racing all made their way to the 2019 Grid Life Alpine Festival.
For this event, Grid Life brought out just about every form of motorsport you could ever want: they were doing HPDE, Time Attack, Wheel-to-Wheel racing, Rally Sprints, and Drifting as well. On Sunday, they also did a track sprint.
Our own Scott Musgrove took the Flatirons Tuning Pikes Peak WRX to the event, and Viet and Frances Phan took their Civic race car to the event. Jeanette of Red Queen Racing was there with her BRZ, and Ryan Dussex from DSX Motorsports was going to bring out his freshly built WRX too.
We've been very into Dry Sumps recently, and are especially big fans of the Roger Clark Dry Sump System. We'll be having some more content (including a new video) on this subject soon, so make sure to Stay Tuned!
