Supertech Beehive Valve Spring Kit (EJ20/EJ25)
The design and manufacturing of valve springs is more than achieving the required pressure and lift. There are many other factors to consider when it comes to achieving a superior spring design and when done correctly it makes a big difference in the reliability and successful operation of the spring.
Our valve springs are computer designed to ensure that wire stress levels do not surpass the limits of stress defined in the diagrams of fatigue for long durability under extreme conditions. It’s also extremely important to account for the natural harmonics of spring. We measure the natural harmonics to make sure they are away from the normal engine operation. We then confirm that the inner and outer springs counter each other for good control of the valvetrain operation.
The first step in the manufacturing process to ensure we manufacture a superior spring is to begin with superior materials. For most of our applications we use wire in Superclean Chrome Silicon Vanadium alloy. The addition of Vanadium increases the tensile strength and improves the life of the spring. In some cases for high stress spring applications we often use Chrome Silicon Vanadium Molybdenum+Ni that offers higher tensile strength and provides more durability for the application.
We also include a gas nitriding process before shot peening that helps improve the fatigue life of the spring.
