The SPT high flow intake is constructed of 319 diecast aluminum, and is manufactured to ensure the smoothest high flowing bends. Each system includes a silicone reinforced boot, anti-vibration mounting system, stainless steel t-bolt clamps, and a SPT 4-layer cotton gauze filter with a built-in velocity stack for smooth air flow.
The Engineers at Subaru have done all this to ensure that the SPT intake system will work with the stock MAF, and will not throw any check engine lights or require special tuning to function properly.
Also available is the SPT Heat Shield which helps ensure that the SPT Intake is able to supply the engine with cool air, which reduces the loss of power that comes from a heated intake charge. Cooler air is drawn from inside the passenger front wheel well, and behind the headlight – not from the hotter areas surrounding the turbocharger, engine, and radiator.
Unlike a traditional cold-air intake, which places the filter element as low as possible in the vehicle, this setup helps to supply cool air by surrounding the intake with a large plastic wall that acts as a barrier between the intake and the engine bay heat while also limiting the risks of water ingestion.
