JDM NSX Short Gears In Japan, both the NSX and NSX Type-R received different gear ratios than what was available here in the US. It is possible to install the JDM Gear Set into all USDM NSX’s from 1991 – 1996 that came with a 5-speed transmission. The advantage of the JDM Gearing is that it gives you a more ideal “Close Ratio” gear spread, and helps to improve acceleration, and engine response. This kit includes a new JDM Main Shaft, and replaces 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. First gear, and fifth gear are the same across all models, and so they are not included with this kit. If you have a higher mileage NSX, it may be a good idea to replace 1st and 5th gears as well, and they are available separately.
